Winter Festival Without Ladies Ski Jumping

There is less than a year and half to the opening of 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2011 in the Liberec Region left, but sport programme of this event is prepared and approved by European Olympic Committee. However, Ladies Ski Jumping will not appear in competition.
To achieve the required level of sports competition at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, competitors from as many countries as possible are necessary. Unfortunately, this prerequisite is not fulfilled for Ladies Ski Jumping. „The FIS Jumping Committee unanimously favours the inclusion of Ladies Ski Jumping into the programme of EYOWF Games in Liberec 2011. However, Ladies Ski Jumping still finds itself in a developing phase. Based on a recent survey carried out by the organisers of EYOWF 2011 Liberec among the FIS Member National Ski Associations involved in Ski Jumping, the level of activity and interest at the grass-roots level has yet to reach a certain momentum. This is why this discipline is currently not part of the EYOWF 2011 Liberec programme,“ explained Riikka Rakic, FIS Communications Manager.
„If situation regarding Ladies Ski Jumping changed, we would be ready to add this discipline to the sport programme and organize it on high level,“ said Festival´s Sport Director Ivo Gréger.
Ladies Ski Jumping were part of FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009, but will not part of Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010.
