With great grief did the Organising Committee of the 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in the Liberec Region receive the news of passing of a former long-standing President of the International Olympic Committee and the present Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch. This sporting diplomat presided over the international Olympic movement from 1980 to 2001 and made an invaluable contribution to the modern Olympic Games of the new era. He keenly supported the development of Olympic idea, international sport and understanding among nations. The Olympic movement loses one of its greatest personalities of all times. We shall honour his memory forever.
