Second Meeting of the Organising Committee

On Thursday 15th October, members of the 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOWF) 2011 Organising Committee met in Liberec. The same Organising Committee is involved in the preparations of the Games of the IV Olympic Days for Children and Youth of the Czech Republic in January 2010 (ODM), which will begin in less than four months and which were the central theme of the meeting.
Unlike at the first meeting of the organisers, when the section directors of these two major events in the Liberec Region spent time making one another's acquaintance, this time the meeting agenda was full of detailed presentations on each of the sections of ODM 2010. The focus was on the changes and updates which have occurred over the past two months.
The time schedule of each of the disciplines was adjusted for the needs of the athletes in Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, as the majority take part in both disciplines at the same time. This also led to changes in accommodation, making access to the venues easier. Despite the fact that the races start on Monday 2nd February, there will be a special competition programme of Nordic Combined two days earlier. The snowboarding track in Rejdice has also undergone significant remodelling. A running competition between the regions, which will be available on the ODM 2010 website throughout the week is one of the new elements of the IV Olympic Days for Children and Youth.
Kateřina Nyčová, the Executive Director of EYOWF 2011 and ODM 2010 Organising Committee, commented on the meeting as follows: “Since the first meeting we have taken a giant step forward. The preparations in each of the sections have acquired a concrete shape, having received detailed applications from all the regional delegations. We know exactly how many athletes will take part in each discipline and can therefore prepare accreditations, accommodation, transport and all the other things.”
