The 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOWF) 2011 has passed an important check point in the state of preparations. From the beginning of the week, the EOC Coordination Committee carried out a three-day inspection of EYOWF 2011. The results of this inspection visit were positive for the organisers of the Winter Festival in the Liberec Region.

These inspections are a regular occurrence in the host countries. The state of preparations of one of the biggest sporting events in the Czech Republic were personally supervised by Janko Dvoršak from Slovenia, the President of the EOC Coordination Committee for EYOWF 2011. Over the course of the three-day visit, he was informed in detail about all parts of the organisation: ranging from accreditation, accommodation, transportation, catering, the press centre or marketing to each of the venues in Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou and Rejdice, which will together host eight sport disciplines.

Janko Dvoršak commented on the conclusion as follows: “I am satisfied with the inspection. I am of the opinion that the organisers are well prepared, having begun the preparations in time and on a very thorough level. They will have the opportunity to make use of an important experience from the national event - Games of the IV Olympic Days for Children and Youth of the Czech Republic (ODM) at the beginning of 2010 – which already seems to be very well prepared as well. If the preparations continue at the same pace and quality, the organising team are well on the way to hosting EYOWF 2011 on a very high level.”
Meeting with the President of the Czech Olympic Committee
The EOC representative did not miss the opportunity to inspect some of the venues, where the race for the medals will soon take place, and also paid a visit to the future Olympic Village, which the university campus of the Technical University in Liberec – Harcov will be turned into. Apart from all the sport managers and other members of the Organising Committee, Mr. Dvoršak also met the President of the Czech Olympic Committee Milan Jirásek.
Kateřina Nyčová, the Executive Manager of the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee, summarised the visit: “We are very pleased with the positive evaluation by the head of the inspection committee himself. Despite the fact there is still a lot ahead of us, it is clear we are heading in the right direction. It is also a great motivation for all the organising team not to slacken with their efforts. The experience gained from ODM 2010 will be used next year in organising EYOWF 2011. I believe we will not fall short of the trust and the good impression we made during this important supervision control.”
