Charlotta Saefvenberg from Sweden was delighted to win the gold medal in the slalom special. Unfortunately the delegation from Slovakia did not have such a good day. They had high hopes for some of the medals, but their greatest talent, Petra Vlhová finished ninth.

Lord Colin Moynihan - the President of the British Olympic Association, is a silver medallist from the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, where he was successful as the coxswain of the British rowing eight. Apart from that he also served as the Minister for Sport and Environment in Margaret Thatcher's government. He spoke highly of the course of events at the EYOWF 2011 so far.

The second day of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2011 brought plenty of sports events, with the program featuring as many as eleven disciplines. While we had watched the Cross Country and Alpine skiers race before, the biathletes, jumpers, Nordic combined athletes and snowboarders all competed for the first time.
