The EYOWF 2011 delegation was present at the European Olympic Committees Seminar. The most important point of the visit to Dubrovnik, where the seminar took place from May 14th to 17th, was a meeting with Guido de Bondt, the Chairman of the EOC Youth Festivals Committee.

The 10th European Youth Winter Festival 2011 Organising Committee was represented in the meeting by Martin Ditrich (Financial Director), Kateřina Nyčová (Executive Director) and Roman Kumpošt (Project Advisor).

The European Olympic Committees Seminar (EOC) was attended by the EOC board, representatives of the national Olympic Committees and also the organisers of the Winter Olympic Games, Summer Olympic Games, EYOF and EYOWF. The most significant day for the delegation from Liberec was Friday, May 15th, when the members met with Guido de Bondt, the Chairman of the EOC Youth Festivals Committee.

This meeting was also attended by members of the EOC board: Victor Sanchez, Jozef Liba, a member of the EYOWF 2011 Coordination Committee Volodymyr Gerashchenko and representatives of the Czech Olympic Committee - František Dvořák, Petr Hrubec, Jan Hrdina.

“The meeting took about hour and a half and we discussed all the important and topical questions,” commented Kateřina Nyčová regarding the meeting. “We obtained the agreement to carry out certain changes in the organisational project of our Festival, e.g. adding women’s ski jumping or changes in the locations of the Opening and Closing Ceremony, which will now take place in Tipsport Arena. We also negotiated the preliminary date of the second visit of the coordination committee in Liberec, which will be at the turn of October and November of this year.”

In spite of the fact that the EYOWF 2011 delegation did not have any official presentation in Dubrovnik, it nevertheless played a visible role for the delegates. Kateřina Nyčová adds, “We gave out folders with our promotional materials; we had a roll-up placed in the main hall and participated in a number of unofficial meetings.”

The seminar included a presentation of the Summer Youth Festival in Tampere. “This was for us one of the most interesting points of the programme,” acknowledged Kateřina Nyčová. “The information provided by Guido de Bondt concerning the general activities of the youth committee was of particular interest.”

There was also a presentation of the Youth Olympic Games, world-wide youth games. This is a new project which takes place in summer 2010 in Singapore and in winter 2012 in Innsbruck. The meeting with representatives of the last Winter Festival organisers from Szczyrk, Poland, was also very valuable. Kateřina Nyčová confirmed that the meeting dealt primarily with the possibilities for obtaining financial resources from EU funds.

The nearest EOC event is the so-called General Assembly in Lisbon, November 27th – 28th 2009, where the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee plans an official presentation.
