Applause and praise in Malta

Representatives of the 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOWF) 2011 in the Liberec Region - Kateřina Nyčová, the Executive Manager and Martin Ditrich, Manager of the Public Benefit Corporation EYOWF 2011 – took part in a recent Seminar of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in the Maltese capital La Valetta. The three-day event also included an official presentation of the current state of preparations for the 2011 Festival.
Kateřina Nyčová explains: “This regular spring Seminar took place from 27th to 30th June and was intended for delegates from the member countries of the European Olympic Committees, organisers of sporting events, candidates for organisation and other notable guests. Apart from us, representatives from Brno, which is candidating for the organisation of the summer variant of the Youth Festival in 2015, also had their presentation.”
The main part of the seminar was comprised of presentations of the most signficant events, which will take place in the near future. The organisers of the Olympic Games in London 2012, the summer variant of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010 and the winter variant in Innsbruck 2012, as well as the summer Festival in Trabzon 2011 and a special IOC Olympic Solidarity Forum, all reported on their state of preparations. A final report from the Vancouver Olympics was also presented. The organisers of the 10th EYOWF 2011 in the Liberec Region consequently had their turn.
Kateřina Nyčová added: “The presentation lasted about 20 minutes. In my opinion, it was a success because the meeting participants applauded. There were no questions from the audience, partly because we had already handed out folders to all the delegates with complete information, a special newsletter as well as the anti-stress ball with our logo on it :-) We particularly appreciated the high praise we received from the President of the EOC, Patrick Hickey himself, and the President of the EOC EYOWF Committee Guido de Bondt. Other participants also expressed their satisfaction with the course of the preparations as well as the high standard of organisation, venues and facilities of our Festival.”
During the remaining part of the seminar, members of the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee focused on dealing with and finalising organisational and operational issues and making contacts with representatives of other National Olympic Committees.
