The Ceremonial Kick-off Began the Accompanying Programme vyCOOL se!

Liberec Vesec was the site of the opening of the additional programme for schools vyCOOL se!. This will be accompanying two significant sporting events organised by the Liberec Region over the next year and a half, the Games of the IV. Olympic Days for Children and Youth of the Czech Republic in January 2010 (ODM) and a year later the 10th European Youth Winter Olympic Festival 2011 (EYOWF). The openings were attended by representatives of the Liberec Region, the Czech Olympic Committee and renowned sports figures.
Radek Cikl,Vice-President of the Liberec Region for the department of education, youth, physical fitness and sports had this to say about the event“I am persuaded that the organizers prepared an excellent accompanying programme, thanks to which we can encourage young people to get involved in sports and active entertainment.”
The symbolic kick-off with balls saw the participation of the chairman of the administrative board of the civic organization EYOWF 2011 Petr Doležal, representatives of the Czech Olympic Committee Josef Dovalil, the Vice-Chairman for Olympics and František Dvořák, Vice-Chairman for Sport as well as the former Olympic champion in the discus Imrich Bugár and finally the honourary president of the organizing committee of EYOWF 2011 Roman Kumpošt.
Several young hopefuls of Czech sports were among the special guests, including the Junior World Champion in the Biathlon Veronika Vítková and the silver medal cross-country skier from EYOWF 2009 Jakub Gräf.
The all day programme began in the morning with competitions and entertainment for students of primary schools, with almost five hundred participating at the Vesec grounds. The afternoon programme included a show on in-line skates designated for the public amongst other attractions. Those with an interest could also join the public race on in-line skates.
The programme vyCOOL se! will consist of special events every month and will culminate at the beginning of February 2011 when the 10th EYOWF will begin in the Liberec Region.
